This colour study was inspired by the work of Lee Krasner.
Earlier this year I visited the exhibition, Action, Gesture, Paint. Women Artists and Global Abstraction 1940-70 at The Whitechaple Gallery. Among work by Lee Krasner were over 150 paintings from an overlooked generation of 81 international women artists. I thought it was a great show. Anyone else see it?
Lee Krasner is just one of many artists overshadowed by their male counterpart, and although she was hugely successful in her lifetime, is all too often remembered as ‘Jackson Pollocks wife’ 😞
