ABOUT STEPHEN TRIBBEL
I am a mixed-media artist living in Chippenham, Wiltshire. My creative preference is collage but I also enjoy painting, drawing and photography. I am originally from Weston-super-Mare but have travelled extensively throughout my life and have called many places home, including Bristol, London, Exeter, Christchurch in New Zealand, and Medellin in Colombia.
Since graduating from the Cardiff School of Art in 2004 with a First in Art and Aesthetics I have continued my practice as an artist alongside a career that has taken me all over the world, and has included being a gallery manager, a pub landlord, and a teacher.
I take my inspiration from a wide range of subjects, including mass-media, literature, music, art history, philosophy, and urban environments. Artists that I regard as influences on my work include, Robert Rauschenberg, Kurt Schwitters, Jasper Johns, Basquiat, Paul Klee, Keith Tyson, Hannah Höch, and Peter Blake.
My work can be found in collections in the UK and around the World including Colombia, Denmark, Kenya, Thailand, and the USA.
